31 December 2009

The weather is one thing you can not control in a wedding event. You can organize and prepare for everything but no matter what you do you cannot control the weather.  Well as a photographer bad weather is something you can plan for.  Obviously you hope you don’t have to deal with it.  But if you have been assigned a job to do the pictures you want to be ready for whatever weather may happen. So here are some useful hints you can do in case of bad weather in a wedding event.

First and foremost you need a backup plan.  No matter what you do you need to have another option for those outdoor shots you planned to take.  As a wedding photographer San Diego I usually don’t have to worry about this. But basically bad weather can also happen sometimes. The thing that you can do is make very sure that you have prepared a backup location if the weather does get bad.You can plan the photographs you will take with a backup place identified.

Planning to have more time for the wedding photos is another thing that you can do. What this will allow you to do is to take cover when it is showering.  When the rain lets up you can hurriedly take photos.  I have had to do this several times as a San Diego photographer.  It isn’t the best way to take photographs but it will work.

Finally you need to have umbrellas set up.In some situations the weather will not let up and umbrellas will let you take them anyway.  In my San Diego portrait photographer business we already have umbrellas ready for many reasons.Taking photos with overcast skies look great in pictures in reality. So it is not all bad.

So there are plenty of tips you can use to make the very best out of a bad weather in a wedding event. As mentioned, you have no power to control the weather but you can definitely control your plans and still have great photos.
